AGM Co ordinators report 1st July

by Karen Little of Neighbourhood Support

Once again I welcome you to the Rodney Neighbourhood Support AGM. This last year has seen a steady gain in groups throughout the Rodney region, with Snells Beach continuing to show an amazing commitment and interest. It was noted in the local paper (Mahurangi Matters) that of the 1200 households in the area, 420 homes are represented. A great deal of credit must go to Lesley Leversha from Snells Beach, who is instrumental in drumming up support, a very big thank you

Unfortunately Junior Neighbourhood Support in the Mahurangi and Warkworth Primary schools have been placed on hold, owing to personal problems experienced by the lady assisting in this project. It is hoped that with continued funding and increased hours, this important arm of NHS will pick up where it was left off.

For the month ending June 30th the stats stand at

Total groups 334

Business groups

Orewa (not involved with Destination Orewa) 10

Snells Beach 38 Total groups 48

As mentioned in the last update forwarded to members, we are focusing on the renewal of very faded, dilapidated NHS signs, fortunately we have at our disposal a stock of signs ready for those requesting replacements. From an administrative point of view, all is on track with the annual return being submitted to the Charities Commission, and an overhaul of our database. I am confident that when we are asked for statistics from various institutions (funding being at the forefront), we are forwarding accurate, realistic figures. On the subject of funding we are currently awaiting a reply from the ASB, which was submitted on the 27th Feb of this year. Further funding applications will be forwarded as required.

In closing I would like to thank all volunteers, who without their energy and time, NHS would not exist and to the members of the board who also give their enthusiasm and time. It gives me great pleasure to see the organization continuing to expand and although there are challenges and at times obstacles, I continue to enjoy my position as the Rodney Neighbourhood Support Co ordinator.
